Clutch Wont Release
Clutch Wont Release
Ive been working on other parts of my project while im waiting for parts to arrive. I have an 81 drive train its a 12a with a 5 speed trans. The newest problems is when I push the clutch pedal I feel resistance but it doesnt disengage the clutch disc. How can I tell if maybe I have a bad clutch or something. I cant find any hydraulic leaks as of now, and I do have a fairly decent pedal. Ive tried bleeding it, and I can see the little rubber boot on the slave cylinder moving when you push the pedal up and down.
If the slave cylinder is in fact extending like it should and it is still behaving like the clutch is not releasing then you may be having a pilot bearing issue. If the pilot bearing is totally siezed then theoretically it can lock the input shaft to the flywheel/eccentric shaft and it would act like the clutch was not released, but this, imho, would be an unlikely scenario. Does the slave cylinder fully extend when the pedal is depressed? Is there any weird noise?
Thats not enough, Replace the master and slave cylinders. At least one of them is the problem and if one is bad the other is probably about to go, so I would replace both. Much easier than a clutch or pilot bearing!!
