Clutch woes

Yes, this is mainly me being a post-*****....
but also I'm whining about having just bought this SE a couple months ago and now the clutch seems to like to engage partially once in a whileeven with the pedal in... (I knew there was a problem with the hydraulics when I bought it)

*sigh*
I suppose I'll have to order the master/slave cylinder and I guess I'll go with a SS line too :-)
(was it Mazdatrix that sells the SS lines?)

Anybody care to guess if this'll let me get around from place to place for the next month or so? It would be great if I could last until next spring before spending money on this car.... the Explorer will be going on the road soon due to the impending bad Syracuse weather.... but that needs a headgasket and new locking 4wd hubs before it does.....

I hate cars.

.....

:-D

Don't go crazy with buying stuff just yet. Have you tried bleeding the clutch?

Dont even go that far. Have you checked the fluid level?

Mine was a bit squishy for the first few weeks. Then I cleaned the gunk off the resivior and saw it was 1/4" above the minimum line. Topping it off made the car just wonderful.

If bleeding doesn't do it yo udon't have to order a NEW master or slave. Re-build kit is like $10 and some change for the master, and a new slave goes for around $15. If you start anywhere, I would re-build the master cylinder first. Takes about 10 min to re-build and 20 min to put it back in and bleed it.

well, I do plan on bleeding it soon....
but it's been steadily losing fluid, and the clutch pedal did stick to the floor once in a while... so unless there's a ton of air in there and it's been slowly replaced by fluid somehow, I'm pretty sure there's a problem....
again, though, I'll try bleeding it before I do anything drastic... (particularly because so many of you say to be sure I bleed it first, hehe)

edwin, I wish I could drive mine year-round too...
I'm thinking about grad school out west... :-)
