Clutch Slave Cylinder & Crush Water

Having problems with the clutch. It will only shift into Reverse now. Ordered new master and slave cylinders, and am waiting for them to arrive. In reading the Hayne's manual, it says "be careful not to lose any crush water." Can anyone tell me what Crush water is? Can't find anyting about it on the site. Thanks.

I had that problem. I was in town when it wouldnt go into gear. I figured out i had to jam it in to reverse and then into gear to get it going. I rebuilt the slave cylinder git a new clutch and pressure plate and release bearing and some new seals and now everything is great. I thought it was the pressure plate but after pulling it apart i found out it wasnt but i figured i might as well replace it anyways.

It's a "crush washer". A little aluminum, or sometimes copper washer that is used for sealing. If they are re-used, they have a tendancy to leak as they have already been crushed and are therefore "work-hardened" and don't seal as well.

I thought the same thing, I can't think of any place in the clutch hydraulic system you would find a crush washer.

There's a washer where the flex hose mates with the slave cylinder.

Thanks for your input.

It turns out it was a typo in the book. We thought it should be a "washer" but as rotories are new to us, we just couldn't be sure. They are a different breed of animal. :-)
