Clutch or Slave cylinder

my clutch pedal was going to the floor, and i could pump it and it would come back up, now it is sticking to the floor and not coming back up. is it the slave cylinder or the clutch?

replace both and replace the rubber line with a braided line.

Replace both, never just replace one other then the other.

Nicholas, What if one or the other has just been replaced.

He is new to the cars and needs to know what to look for.

Kevin, the most common is the slave cylinder leaking and losing hydraulic pressure. But it could be the clutch master also that is leaking and losing pressure. If there is no fluid loss then the most likely cause is the clutch master. If you pull the protective boot on the slave and see fluid there then it is the slave. Same with the clutch master.
