WI Clutch safety switch

I'm having a problem with my 1985 RX-7 that I think might be the clutch safety switch. It starts fine but sometimes dies as I'm moving and changing gears. Then it does not want to start. After messing around with clutch, shifter, ignition, it starts again and then drives ok. Only seems to happen when it is cold, hasn't happened after it is warmed up.

My 85 doesn't have one, or it's inoperable.

I would think either it works all the time or not at all, if it has one.

As stated above there was no starter interlock switch activated by depressing the clutch pedal. There is a clutch switch and it installed only on cars with cruise control. Depressing the clutch pedal will deactivate cruise and the clutch pedal switch is only for that purpose.
