Clutch pedal gets stuck?!

Sometimes when I push my clutch pedal to the floor it gets stuck to the floor and the engine stalls. I then Have to put my foot under the pedal and pull it up, then start the engine and I'm on my way. It has only done this when going into first gear. Ideas?

Most likely is the clutch master cylinder wearing out. You can get a rebuild kit from most auto parts stores (Autozone, etc.). I have a used one I can sell you for $15 which includes shipping if you dont want to tackle the rebuild. Honestly though, the rebuild is not that hard to do. Removing the master cylinder is usually the hardest part. Let me know if you can use the one I have.

the rebuild isn't hard, but my experiences with it just weren't good. rebuilt it, put it back on.. built up pressure, took the test drive, and it didn't hold.. took it back apart, tried it again.. held for about 2 weeks then gave out again.. i just went to a junk yard and found a good feeling master/slave combo.

Okay, I know how to do a rebuild on these . I will never do that again though because the last time I rebuilt one it only lasted a month. I'll just buy a Tokico clutch master and slave cylinder from nopi.com.

My clutch fluid is dark murky brown. I'll flush it out and replace it with Valvoline Synpower. I've just never heard of a master cylinder getting stuck though. It still has "max" fluid. I checked the clutch lining and it looks good too.

Recently did the overhaul as well. Check line for damage, holes in hose, loose thread in the bolt at both the master and slave end. Get a new line made, and replace hoses and both slave and master, shouldn't cost much and it's easy to do yourself, then just bleed system, make sure you dont have air in the line when you restart.

ah air the dreaded enemy of brakes and hydraulic clutches, I want one of the tools they have in the factories that "auto bleed" your system, it would save alot of work

also, how old is the hose? a lot of times the hose can start collapsing internally and cause the same problem you are experiencing. either way, all of the components should be replaced at the same time.

I'm not sure how old the hose is. Are stainless steel hoses available? I'm just hoping that the clutch pressure plate or something in the tranny isn't the cause of this problem.

a worn pressure plate acn be the cuplerate. if the fingers are bent, it can cause some erratic action. is there any throw out bearing noise?

I was going to post that I'm having problems with my clutch also but since this thread is at the top. When I push my clutch in it takes alot more effort than it should, when it comes back out its very slow two get back to the normal position. I looked at the clutch fluid and its pretty dirty but would that cause my problem or do you thinks its a slave or master.

probably the clutch master cyl. sticking. it could also be a lack of good hydraulic pressure in the clutch hydraulic system and it can be a worn pressure plate. stickey clutches have been more and more common this summer for some reason...

My rebuild on my master cylinder is holding fine. My fluid was murky grey also. Just flushing it didn't work, so I did the rebuild. I wasn't too meticulous about it, basically removed, wiped down, reinstalled the new parts, and put it back on the car. Bleed, and go. Has been holding pretty good.
