Exclamation clutch

just got a new clutch master and slave in the car (1985 S3) and now the clutch doesnt engage until the pedal is almost fully extended?

is this simply adjusting the push rod attached to the clutch pedal?

I need it to engage further to the floor as its really annoying and awkward when taking off or hill starts, cheers

I had to do the exact same thing when I replaced mine, its really easy, just get down there with 2 adjustable wrenches and lengthen the push rod.

If you are possitively sure it's fully bleed, the pushrod on the slave isn't backwards, the slave and master are securely bolted down, then adjust the rod as suggested. It's usually a good idea to reolace the rubber hose at the same time too. I prefer the ss one for a better pedal feel, particularly with an HD PP.

If they did the repair and you paid for it, take it back and complain, they should have set the pedal height correctly. ss, stainless steel, HD heavy duty. PP pressure plate.

Here in the States, we don't take our 7s to the dealer. Not only are the hourly rates nuts, the older rotary knowledge is long gone from the newer line mechanics.

Yeah i sorted it out, (lesson learnt). only took it to them as i currently cant get under the thing but will have a pit soon so no worries. thought about jacking it on stilts in the apartment carpark and having a stab but i dont think they would like me doing a clutch change-out at my estate hahah.

Just wound out the push rod and shes all good.

I understand what you mean about "the old knowledge" ive gotten more info off this site than any of the books manulas and such, its a labour of love and im learning.
