Choke problems

Is there any reason why a rats nest delete would mess with my choke? I have a stock nikki, but when I pull my choke, nothing happens. You can get under the hood and pull the choke yourself until it starts, then it snap back open.

In the 1985 service manual wiring diagram, http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/19...g_Diagrams.pdf, page 50:B-1 it shows that the water temp switch must be hooked up. I believe it's the sensor on the back of the water pump housing. It determines when the engine is warm enough to allow the choke to magnetically pull it back in.

I know it might be boring, but books are a wonderful thing. I only say this because there is no better satisfaction then having an problem and discovering a fix by doing a little research.
