Sounds like a major vaccum leak. Check the large vac. hose on the passenger side at the back of the engine just above the exhaust. I had this hose get a hole burned into it from the exhaust heat. The hole was on the bottom of the hose so it was invisible from the top side. You have to run your hand over the hose to feel the bottom. If that is not it try spraying some carb. cleaner over various vac. hoses while the engine is running until you find the leak. When the carb. cleaner hits the vac. leak it will get drawn into the engine causing it to speed up.

Good Luck!!

i found the problem

when i got the car home, i had a look under the hood and i found a really small pipe, maybe a bit bigger than a matchstick running 2 the carby, i didnt know where it was coming from or what it did, but anyway it was severed so i fixed it... and thats wat caused my problems... so i took off the attachment and let it loose, and now it runs fine... so i dont know wat that small tube does, but the car runs great without it..

can anyone shed any light??

where is it meeting the carb? there are afew vaccume lines running to the base of the carb. they are for emissions and the corresponding emmisions solenoids. perhaps if you had a pic or a better descripton that would help.
