chirping/squeeking problem

Ive searched the archives, but came up with loads of different thigns this could be, i wanted a more direct reply about my question

I notice when shifting 1st thru 3rd gears when i have my foot on the accelerator i hear a chirping or squeeking/squeeling noise, once i throw it into 4th it sounds normal

i thought it was th ebelts at first, tightened them and nothing changed.. i dont hav e MUCH experience with rotaries, or any cars for that matter, but with this site ive started learning more and more

anyways, ideas?

Belts are the most likely culprit, even if they are tight. Sometimes old belts are going to squeak no matter how tight they are, then they get tightened too much and burn out bearings.

As for ideas. I'm up in St. Joseph. Bring the car up and I will take a look at it. PM me for my address and phone #, I should have time tomorrow if you want.
