Chevron Techron use - 85 GSL-SE

Feel free to flame me if this has been dealt with.

I have an 85 GSL-SE with 123K that is used for commuting. The car runs fine, but any improvement in city gas mileage would be welcome. Oil consumption is about 1 litre every 1,600 miles. It shows a little white smoke upon startup (not blue), but it doesn't last very long.

I bought the car 8 years ago and have never used any fuel additives.

Would the engine benefit from using a 12 ounce bottle of Chevron Techron? If so, what benefits would I experience and how often should it be used.

Thanks

That's good stuff. Use a bottle with half a tank or so every 6k miles, or twice in a row if this is the first time.

Techron rocks. I pour two bottles into my isuzu's 17.7 gallon tank a few times a year. cleans injectors and better throttle response.

Redline's fuel system cleaner is very good too.

running half a can of amsoil powerfoam down the carb/throttle body does wonders. When I'm out of amsoil I spray half a big can of Gumout carb cleaner down there. Cleans carbon out of the motor, loosens sticky seals. etc....

It IS good stuff. However, the Chevron gas ( all grades ) has techron in it, so why not use that all the time. I do for all my vehicles and have never had to use additives.
