Anyone know of any good sites that I could use to look at to get aerodynamic help? Other than the obvious Google. I'm looking for something that will help me design an airram, and other pieces to help me from taking off at 200+mph.

As far as wind tunnel time and the specialists to translate the data into helpful changes, it's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$.
But wait a minute - you're at a University! Check around whatever engineering dept they might have.

Worse case, I say build a scale model, set up a fan and a cigar, and take pics for us.

I doubt there will be any FD kills... a Rex is a Rex.... you don't pick on your brethren...

However, I WILL be doing my fair share of Honda huntin', Z06 huntin', and anyone else that wants to run `em. But, I make exceptions to NOT race the other Rotaries on the road... they're the only ones that matter

And I'll tell ya' what, if you can find some free time, after I get all the parts together, and you wanna be part of history, then you can fly out here sooner, help us build it, and after the Bonneville Run, you can drive it.... This goes for all of y'all.

So.... NOW how much support do I have? It'll be great to work with soem of y'all, and YOU WILL BE RECOGNIZED if/when I make it to the magazines.

See you at the Salt Flats.

BTW, after careful consideration, there are only 2 Rex's I wanna race... ZYounker's GSL-SE, and Kurgan's 20B FC.

WOOOOWWWWW!!!! FOUR ROTOR POWER !?
Chef, you're the man! I just can't wait to see pics of the build up, regular updates, and so on. As all the other bro's on the forum, I need money for my own car (trying to build a 13BT from a 13BN/A and putting it into my first gen), but what about this idea:
I holland there was a race team that wanted to race Le Mans, but money is always hard to find. So they got the car painted in all small boxes, and every box was sold as sponsorship space. Many small firms gave some money, and in th end, without a major sponsor, they did race, and did a good job, too...
I'd think that if we all give you a few bucks, just what we can afford, it might be not that little money in the end... Get a nice website, covering the planning and building, and get paypal donation buttons there. Everyone can help you a little bit, just according to their own financial capabilities.
And keep us informed!!!

Zach, I know, I'm just messin'.

But in all honesty, Fennix, I really don't want a 5 or 6 rotor.

Four is gonna be beyond difficult... I don't even wanna think about 5 or 6. That'd be WELL over 60K to do those.

You don't have a 2mm option on these rotors, and you'll want carbon one-peice seals so you can rev high. $1900 for the shaft seems high, you might want to check other options. And you'll want to sign up with Mazdaspeed - tell them you have a project race car and they'll give you a membership so you can buy the parts you need at a really nice discount and you can get good advice too.

You might want to also re-think buying all new parts, stuff like used rotors are just as good as new, especially if you're going to lighten them anyway. If you could guarantee me that I could drive it (preferably on a track) I could donate good rotors or side housings, advise, and possibly connections on getting machine work done. Keep in mind things like intermediate housings have to be machined to accept gears - you should be able to get away with a single bearing to support between the 2 and 3 rotor, but you'll need a two-peice shaft to do it right, etc...etc...

there REALLY isn't that much money in "cheffin'." Especially when you consider the hours. However, I got lucky and have a job where I have plenty of time to sit and think about ****. My mind kinda drifted into crazy territory when I got thinking about this.... and my mom said I fell off the deep end.... she knows how I get if I start daydreaming then planning something.... I WILL have it. I am one of the most determined people to do this, and the only thing limiting me is the financial situation. otherwise, I'd be out there NOW putting it together and driving it, rather than typing on a godforsaken keyboard.

You are SOOOO IN!

I'll need all the help, advisory, physically, and financially I can get. MazdaSpeed's receptionist laughed at me when I asked her who I had to talk to to get a race car builders membership. Oh well, I'll try again next week.

I dont think I've ever talked to a receptionist when I called, you'll want to just talk to one of the support guys:
1-800-435-2508

Just tell them what you want to do (if they dont consider the top speed run as a racing project then tell them you're going to run solo2 or drag race it also) and they will sign you up, but you'll have to provide race results as soon as the car is running - autocrosses are easier to provide results for than drag racing.

I'll give you $100 if you finish by May. Although, I will be the realist Anti-hero here and say that this project will never be completed, and never see the salt flats. -

There, that should motivate you to prove me wrong.

Dreamin' is something that could become reality.
Fantasy is something that won't.

I have to say this falls under fantasy. Sorry guys, I call em like I see em. I only hope I am proven wrong, because I would like nothing more than to eat my words on this one.

Good Luck Chef.

You're partly correct... like EVERYONE's project car... it will *never* be done.

And Directfreak, no faith? That's fine... there's a long list of you non believers. The list was also as long for when they said I wouldn't make it in culinary school.... I graduated #3 in my class, from the Culinary Institute of America.
