Check Out This headlight mod

Anyone got an idea on where I can find the DIY tutorials for this headlight mod? It looks pretty tight. Not only does it have two for low and high beams, but it can also be lowered back into the hood.

That is a modified flying miata kit. I think ssg.lopez or something has done a write up on installing them, do a search.

And those are not sleepy eyes, that phrase refers to the lights (or eyes if you will) beeing half open, hence sleepy eyes!

The sleepy eyes thing does not work well on the 1.st gen, because the lights would point downward into the bumper, when they are half open.

I like them, but I like the old school look of the stockers better.

I Agree!!!
Stay Stock on the Headlights.
But I dooo like the Front Spoiler.
Noticed you have the Pilot Light Setup or some other name that stole there Look from them.

AnyHow; Did your front Spoiler come with the Inserts for the Smaller Style Lights, or is this something that you Fabbed yourself?

I already have the Side Skirts and Small Whale installed on my 84GSL and am looking for a Front Spoiler but have not made up my mind on which one yet.
Been looking at the VB one since that's where the other goodies came from.
I already have the Square Driving Lights installed that will fit in the Spoiler offered by VB, but I would rather have the smaller Oval look like the above.
Any Ideas???

I think they look pretty sweet. I was suprised that this guy could fit 2 lamps in one of those headlight housings. I find it very impressive. Thanks for your help, if I find something I'll post it on a new thread.

iirc thats badassrx-7's old 81. He was making those kits back in the day, but its been years since he made one. I agree they look cool, but its not really my thing, for my car at least.

badassrx-7 eh? Is he on these forums by any chance? Just wondering if he even has a DIY anywhere on the internet, or maybe even he could do a service for that can of mod.

Kinda? I think it owns...

Less drag, Doesn't look all buggy eyed. (I prefer the older Impreza headlights versus the ones on the early WRX'es as well)

They're much sleeker than the stockers... I don't like the non popups because they have to be recessed so far and you'll get no light directly in front of the car.

QFT!

for my 79, the car thats gonna be done JUST the way i'd want my ideal 7, i'm either gonna have to have something like that, or recessed lights, i like the popups and all, so i'd rather have that, but the stockers are just TOO BIG for the sleek shape of the seven, those would be perfect, once you mold some fiberglass around them so they have a "housing" so to speak.

So those would require a hole new housing for the headlight flip? I was wondering how that guy did it. I bet if you were good at making stuff like that it would be an easy bolt on .. well besides the wiring and all.

I've PM'ed badassRx-7 and now I'm waiting for a reply to see if he was the one who mades those headlights.

I think thats a $400. kit for a Miata that's easily made to fit an Rx7.

I like it also.

http://www.perfrmplus.com/miata/asp/...ype=182&ph=cat

They have another set that's about a grand called the "dual headlight kit", which comes with hella lamps, wonder if that's a brand price situation thing goin.

The only thing I don't like about them is the open airspace behind them. If they had some kind of plastic surrounding them, I would be all for them.

open air space? they don't have a "surround"? and the ones for sale for the miata's don't allow for the headlights to go up and down?

i love the look by the way i think it looks "classy"

probably not a mod i would do in the near future (kinda pricy) but definately something to keep in mind

Doesn't the lid of the headlight that's painted with the car cover that? I think even the OEM headlight had an open space behind it. As far as the design goes it looks pretty secure for rain and other kinds of weather.

But then again the lid doesn't go all the way of up to the direction like the OEM one does .. is that what your talking about?

Sorry, bad diction on my part. The plastic surround, as nick1 put it, was what concerned me. Like the old Corvettes had, where there were the two bulbs and the backing, but nothing on the front.

Finals are killing my brain, sorry.

How about the 'sleepy eye' mod? Is it just a simple job of adding another relay and some wiring? Can't seem to find any instruction. Pls help.
