check list for a 85' gsl se..

going to check out the SE tomorrow

am i missing anything, this can be done without mechanics

- check coolant level
- white smoke, warm the car up, hold at 6k and let out the gas right?
- rust / weather stripping
- tires / supension
- engine bay / battery
- seats / interior
- head lights/switches/pop up
- window regulartors (he said it's semi shot already)
- AC?
- power steering?
- idle
- test drive

any other quick and dirty methods? probably can't check for compression (no tools and expertises)

anyone will be in Eagle Rock, CA area, would appreciate it if you'll tag alone (morning, will buy you lunch)

also, anyways you guys thing i should "test" the abovementioned items, pls feel free to let me know.

thanks
TT

Make sure that the brakes are good and the transmission shifts nicely.

the oil cooler is VERY prone to leaking, especially if you replace the lines. do not tighten the fittings too tight! trust me, you will regret it!!! i am on my second oil cooler for my se.

Watch the temp gauge - be sure it's stays down below the 1/2 way marker.

no way JB weld will hold...if you have a leak in oil cooler, take it off, have it cleaned VERY well and well the neck area. The neck is where the cracks occur...I have mine welded and it still leaks a "bit" but I am ok with it...se oil cooler leaks are common and most of the time, you can weld. however, if not, 400.00 for a new one..There is a "HOW TO BUY A RX7" article by BOB rx7 somewhere out there on the net..maybe some one knows where to find and can tell you...it is great info...good luck with the car if you buy it....cjf
