cheap turbo

this is my idea!

1.remove all emissions crap,
2.buy turbo from 1st gen eclipse(found 1 for 150.00)
3.build my custom exh. header
4.have my buddy install all coolant, and oil lines
5.route through used intercooler
6.install blow off valve and boost guage
7.install holley blue pump, reg., and a guage
8.have carl work his magic on my nikki
9.install hat and plumb to it
10.tune
11.burn lotza rubber

now, is this logical?
what intercooler can i use?
is it necessary to have a turbo timer or can i just be careful not to run her hard and put her up wet?

Just use a turbo from a 2nd gen tII. They don't require much modification to bolt up the manifold to the 12a block and they come with an internal wastegate. You don't need a turbo timer, just be smart about shutting your car down (i.e. not right after beating the crap out of it...give it a minute or two). Don't forget to work a downpipe/exhaust into your budget.
