What should I use to change my tranny and LSD fluid? I've heard that mobil 1 synthetic is good. What weight should I get? Can I use the same stuff for my LSD, or will I want something different? I need to change it today or tomorrow, so redline is out of the question cause no one here sells it. So what weight of mobil 1 should I use, and what should I use for my LSD? Thanks a lot guys.

get redline gear oil man. No contest there. You need 2 quarts of MT-90 for the tranny, and 2 quarts of 75W90 for the rear. The stuff is like 8 bucks a quart though but it's worth it, ask anyone. How often do you change your gear oil? Not very often so you might as well get the good stuff.

You can get it at summit racing BTW.

Hmmm.... I thought "today or tomorrow so redline is out of the question" was pretty clear.... but then again, are you sure it can't wait until the order of redline comes in, or are you gonna have to just take those #s and try to find a substitute?

I have no idea really, I just came here to find out the same thing!

Go to the nearest GM dealer and get "GM Syncromesh" for the trans. Great Stuff, I've used redline and syncro, I consider them at least equal quality.

ok, i got a question for you all!!! What is the best way of getting the Oil into the Gearbox without wearing half of it?? i tried attatching a hose to the nozzle in the gear oil bottle, punching a whole in the bottom of the oil bottle and filling it with compressed air (at 4psi) it worked fine for about 5 mins till the nozzle broke off the oil bottle and filled half my engine bay with gear oil GRRRRRRRRRRR any pointers anyone???

COASTAL GEAR OIL is fine too... I have it in my car right now... 2.99 a quart in AUTOZONE... just get a additive with it for the diff and put some too in the tranny(even though I don't have additive in my trans)...

where's the gearbox inlet to put the oil in??? post a pic if to show where it is...

I bought a small pump that's just for filling trany's and rearends. You screw it into a standard size oil bottle, and put the little hose into the filler hole, and pump away. It takes awhile, like 5 minutes to do a quart, but is cleaner than your method turned out!

You should be able to pick one up at an auto parts store, or marine supply store, cause I think this one was packaged for marine oils.
Oh, it was like $5, so it didnt set me back much.

What fluid should you use for the steering gearbox? Above was posted the fluids for:
Tranny: Red Line MT-90 2qt
Rear End: Red Line 75W90 2qt

But for the gearbox, what do you use and how much?
