KS Changing lug pattern options on a 79

I have a 79 and as you know it has the impossible to find wheels for lug pattern. I am getting new wheels and need a more normal lug pattern like the 83-85. I also would like to upgrade the stock brakes and suspension so i fiqured there has to be a few different options. I was wondering if i could just swap the whole strut assembly with the spindle, brakes and everything from a newer rx7 with my desired lug pattern. Would that work?

I am open to any other suggestions related to upgrading front end: steering, brakes and suspension. Thanks

79-85 12a cars all have a 4x110 bolt pattern 84-85 gsl-se have a 4x114.3 bolt pattern. You can swap the gsl-se suspension fairly easily or you can swap a fc front end in which is a little harder. Also Midwest7's has a set of 14 in 4x110 auto bahn meshies for sale, he is located in lawrence.

You also have to do something with the brake lines as the SAs had a different thread pitch than the FBs. This is easy, though, since www.re-speed.com has brake lines made for this situation (FB suspension in SA car). You will want GSL-SE stuff as the 12A cars all have the same lug pattern, so they would be of no help.

I believe that another really good option for you is to talk with Re-speed about the whole project he can provided a bunch of new parts and kits that would switch everything and not use any GSL-SE (most items coming from T2s) parts you will be very happy with the quality and increased performance.
