Changing brake hoses question about a little bolt
I bought new rubber hoses for the front brakes on my '79. I cracked the hose loose at the caliper then removed the caliper and spun the caliper off of the hose.
Next I got the little clip off the middle of the hose by tapping it upwards with a dull punch and hammer. I thought I could just crack the hose loose at the wheel well and spin it around to remove it. I tried that, it didn't work so I had a closer look.
It looks like I need to hold the hose from under the wheel well and crack a little bolt loose from the top. I don't have a wrench that fits the bolt. It seems to be a bit bigger than 3/8 inch (I think it's 10 mm). I don't want to damage that little bolt or the metal line.
What is the safest way to get the hose out. Is there anything I should know about getting the new ones in? Oh, also there is paint on the thread and bolt on top of the wheel well. I don't know if that's normal.

You should use a flare nut wrench on the hose fitting, and hold the fitting in the fender well with another wrench:

Good luck,

Great, Thanks. I'm off to get a 10 mm wrench in a few minutes here. I will try to get a flared end. (I already bought a flared wrench for the hose fittings.)
