hey, you should give us SA guys a break. some of us already have to walk all the way around our car to prop the hood, are you going to try and make a carbon hood to accomodate us? how bout a hood prop bastion on both sides of the hood just for us?

I work in a composite shop in Atlanta and Im working on hood and fenders for my first gen....If i had a good number of people wanting them I could make them fairly cheap....Ive already made a mold for the fenders But the hood is gonna cost me a lot more to make. prototyping a few different styling bucks.
Trying to decide between two simple vents, ot two rows of three gill-like vents a la the feed hood, or two rows of multiple small louvres.

The FB setup may still work, but it might require a hole to be drilled in the inner fender on the left side.

the vent in the third gen is to run air from the rad over the hood, you would have to do something for that, or else you would just have a hole, and thats kinda dumb.
louvers are cool if you wnat to vent the engine, but i would be worried about the turbulance they cause at high speed...you dont se any truly "fast" cars with them...i think the last one was a jaguar, it was a mid engine prototype based on the E-type.... it was called the xj13

I think the louvers would be really cool, I'd put them on my car no problem, just push them a little farther onto the hood then in that other pic.

over the wheel arches is a different story, in that situation, air is directly vented fron the wheel well, they used to do it on buic race cars, but my point is, why dont they do it on the hood of truly fast cars? i dont think it is as black and white as saying "it is a negative pressure area" that just doese not seem right to me.
i know the edge, close to the windshield is, because it lifts at speed, but i think the front and the center may not be, or why have the hood scoops close to the center? would they not function better at the front of the hood then?

Why have what hood scoops close to the centre? 1st gens never had stock scoops on the hood.

ah, ok i see...hum, louvers still make me a little nervous...but I must admit that i would be intrested in a cf or fg hood...but i think that if you make it...people will still buy it...even if they have to cut their own holes

Sorry, both louvered hood examples were way too "busy" from an artistic viewpoint....they add too many lines to the simplistic line lay-out of the SA/FB RX-7s...the two (or four, maybe?) vent 3rdgen hood would look good...
