cd player install. no power

so i decided i was going to install my cd player in my rx7. long story short, i got an electrical tester but i cant get power from any of the wires behind the cd player, even with the key on. so i ran one from the battery, and one from the power antennae slot from the fuse panel, and i still wasnt able to get any power to it. anu ideas?

If you want you can try taking power off the line to the cigarette lighter, but if you ran a line to the fuse box, I don't understand why you can't get any power. Did you check the power antenna slot with a multimeter to ensure it had power to begin with?

I had the same issue and I tapped the wire from the hazard lights on top of the fuse box and wired that for constant power. It works great for me

I would connect the power to the radio, from an ignition source on the fuse box, something with a closer amprage to your radio, I do not ever recommend connecting the radio directly to your battery, I have seen a lot of head units get cooked like that. also if you connect it to your ignition it will turn off the radio when you turn the car off, but be sure to connect the memory(usaully the yellow wire) to a constant..., So you don't have to set your stations all the time... Hope my 2 cents helped....
Peace Cruz
also on alot of head units if you do not connect the memory the radio will not power on, so be sure its connected..

I would recommend running your power wire through the Wiper Motor Fuse, as it is really the only ACC powered item in the ignition wiring and is easy to do. I did it on mine and it works wonderfully.

Why not run the constant off your ignition switch?

The previous aftermarket radio that was in the car when I got it was hooked directly to the ignition switch and a (for the life of me why I can't figure out) wire pulled out of my emmision control unit...

It works very well, haven't blown any fuses... Though I would rather change the wiring from the ignition to the ACC and another stable Hot lead.

Look at what amperage rating you need and match it with the appropriate circuit?

Yeah... Well you did run it through the accessory switch... so I think it should be okay... as for your memory wire.. you pretty much need a fused but direct connection to the battery.
