Carburetor issues. (again, i know im sorry) oh and free post count boost!!!!

ok, heres the deal, i have a 48 sk racing sidedraft. im pretty sure im runnign really rich, but im not sure how to fix it. ive tried adjusting everything, and nothing seems to work.

it runs and drives, but when i accelerate, it bogs severely when transfering from the idle circut to the main. when im in fifth at about 55 im in the idle, or pilot circut, and it sounds garbley, but it goes fine, and when i accelerate once im in the main circut, it goes beatifully, except it misses some, and literally quits making power at like 5500 rpm. and when i run through the gears, i empty the the float bowls at about the same 5500rpm.

so heres what i think. i think its rich on the idle circut and the main, because of the bog at the top of the idle circut, and because of the missing in the maincircut.

IDLE:
i think i need to jet it down, and adjust my afr's but im not sure how to adjust the afr's for the idle circut on the oer carb. and ive also read that the richness on the idle circut could be due to float bowl level, so i think i will adjust this as well.
Main:
i think i need to adjust my accelerator pump, i think thats what its called, im really tired.

delivery, i think i have eough fuel pressure, but i dont think the volume is there. so i think thats why im running out of gas in third, but im not entirely sure, if someone could shed some light on this, thanks.

but anyways, if you agree with what i say then um cool i guess, and if not well then try and set me straight, and if you dont know what im talking abot, im sorry for wasting your time, but thanks for reading, and as the president of this threadm i will allow you to bump it, and up your post count.

P.S. another reason i think it is rich is because of backfires, excessively larger than regular, and because my idle is very very irratic, if you can even consider it an idle. lol.

so thanks anyways guys, if you can help, if not, i guess its back to trial and error.

its advanced some, im not sure how much or how to measure it. well actually, i dont even know that it is avanced i turned the dizzy counterclockwise and it seemed to cleat up some of my idle issues, but it also increased the idle, so i just re-adjusted it at the carb.

well i adjusted my float level, and it cleared up alot of my issues. it seemed alot more responsive, and it ran so much smoother. but then i noticed fuel in my venturi's, so i turned down my fuel pressure, and then it continued to bog like it was... i just ordered another fuel pressure gauge because of the mishap with my other one.. but let me knwo what you think

i think that im running to lean now, because i had a rag in my carb and i accidently started it with tha rag in it, and it ran ten times better, no bog at all, so the rag was limiting my air flow into the carb, allowing it to run richer, and eliminating my bog..

anyone else have any input?

ok well two thoughts came to me today, one is that i have a bad accelerator pump, and thats causing me to lean out, or ive just plain got too much carb, and maybe i could swap out the venturis to smaller ones? does anyone have any inclinatio to what is going on with my carb? please help.

i also jetted it up the other night because i thought it was lean, and now it back fires worse than before, wont even attempt to idle, and im bogging on the top end...no fuel pressure?? too much fuel?? someone please help.!!

Not able to idle is usually caused by clogged idle circuit. And yes, start with smaller venturies/jets, then work your way up.
