carburated 13b turbo?

If a 12a can be fitted with a turbo, why not a 13b? Besides, I thought a carburated engine could not run a turbo?

Search. Its been done. However, with any turbo engine, a fuel injected setup is preferable. You can carb a 13b and turbo it though. If you were going to go that route though, why not just buy a 13b TII engine? Its already turbo, and its fuel injected. Built to run boost and all that jazz.

And you can run a turbo with a carb. You just have to boost prep the carb, buy a carb hat to support boost, etc. etc.

Hardly. You'd have to send your carb out to someone to get it boost prepped. I have no idea what it takes to get it prepped for boost. The carb hat is just so your boost stays boost and doesn't lose pressure before going into the engine.

I think everytime someone brings up a turbo rotary with carb, Rob's name should pop up. If not his name, then the name of his company. Its a good thing it already popped up so I didn't have to say "Check out rotaryshack.com".

Rob will boost prep your carb as well. If you want to do a turbo setup with a carb'd rotary you can probably e-mail him questions through rotaryshack.com, or there is also a section in the venders section for rotaryshack.

We turboed a 13B 4 port in 76 using a Weber set-up with mega ports, and installed the engine in a RX-3 rally car. The result was frightening, handling was worse than my turboed Mini Cooper 1500. It produced over 400hp at around 20psi. The power band started at 5,000rpm. After a short but hard life the transmission blew-up; fortunately without fatal results, but causing a near heart attack.
