Carb spilling fuel??

OK. Hey guys. searched. im running a mikuni 44 and its been great until the other day. went for a drive and ended up getting down on the brakes pretty hard at one point. didnt think too much of it til i smelled fuel about an 1/8th mile later.

get out check under the hood and theres fuel *puddled* right above the plugs on the motor.....? immediately cut it. pulled the air cleaner off, nothing stuck in the jets that i can see. clean everything up replace air cleaner. 1/8th mile later, same thing. never done this before and been running like a champ til now.

any ideas? it seems to be fine til i either take corners or put the engine under load...itll idle fine no leaks for 20 mins...as soon as i start driving though i smell fuel and have to clean up...

sorry for the halfass typing, just dislocated my shoulder this morning and am typing with one hand....thanks in advance guys!

Only time I've had leaking problems on a Mikuni is when the fuel pressure went way over 6 psi and started pouring out of the velocity stacks. Other than that, check the gasket on the jet cover, then the one for the top cover.

+1 the only time I ever had flooding was when the fuel pressure was set too high...

Is 3.5 too high? You may want to try adjusting the pressure down and re-jetting. I don't know about Mikunis but 3.5 is too high for a Sterling.

3.5 psi is not too high. I run mine at 4.25 psi.

yea 3.5 is not too high... its actually kind of low, but just walked a buddy of mine through pulling his first carb so ill be catching a ride home here pretty soon and ill be single handedly diving into this little b and if i cant figure it out i guess i'll just quit being broke and buy the correct jets for the weber and rock that......finally....meh. why cant we go back to the barter system?

Only other advice I can give then is recheck your floats and needle/seats. They must be sticking. Since there is only 1 needle/seat on the Mikini, that's the most liikely cause if fuel is coming out of both intake barrels, other than fuel pressure.
