carb an intake manifold

i just bought a new intake mani and carb for my 79 rx7 and the new mani wont go on because it hits the exhaust. what do i do?

ok well the new manifold has another port uner the two middle gas ports and the old mani didnt have that. but the motor also has the extra port in the same spot too

What intake manifold is it? For what kind of carb? If it's stock, what year? What kind of exhaust manifold?

Sounds like you have the 79 motor and you bought a later manifold with the EGR port covering under the main ports. Best bet:

Get a header
-or-
Machine off the tab

the new manifold does have a butterfly valve in it. and if i got a rb header should it fit?

Wait, your new manifold has a butterfly valve in it?

Is this a stock Nikki carb setup?

yeah its all stock. the butterfly valve is on the mani right under the carb

oh then you have a 79-80 engine... you need a 79-80 manifold. You could probably either find and old style manifold or, yes, I believe that a header would clear this.

What happened to your original manifold?

too old and when i pulled it, a chunk came off
