Carb Info Pls

Hello guys, I have an 83 7 that is basically stock. My mother-in-law gave it to me, she bought it off the showroom floor. She had the motor rebuilt, she said it isn't your stock rebuild, it's "built", but she doesn't know what that meant. Either way, I was wondering what the most reliable way to:

1. Remove all smog equipment
2. Swap the carb
3. Swap the intake manifold

I have the "remove emissions" archive downloaded, what I didn't like about it was all misc plugs, hoses, bolts that make the engine compartment look messy. So I figured I could help that by replacing stock carb, manifold, as well as removing air pump, emissions hoses and wires. What carb would be best for my "built" 12a motor with no emissions? And what manifold should I go for knowing that the exhaust is next? Is there any archives that would be helpfull?

thanks in advance guys!

Sterling Nikki. www.sterlingmetalworks.com

Nikkis made for the RX7, modified by Sterling

why swap intake manifold.

I supposed if you want to do all that start searching in the 1st gen section for RB holley, or edlebrock, or OEM, or Webber?

yeah, it would also help to know what she means by built. Your jetting will be different for a streep port then a stock port. And thats the only thing I can think of when you say its been built. That its been ported

Believe me, the engine bay looks a hell of a lot cleaner after the removal. It's well worth it.

so Sterling/Nikki

So no manifold swap with a Nikki? I thought the stock carb was a Nikki, if not, will a new Nikki come with all the emission stuff on it? That was the idea of changing it, losing the emissions hose bibs, sensors, and such, and also to get better performance obviously. In your opinion, is this Nikki/Sterling as good as swapping manifold and going with, let's say, a Weber carb? I had a Weber on another vehicle and I was very pleased with it. I'm looking for a little boost from the carb, a little boost from emissions removal, and a little boost from a new exhaust (minus the cat). thanks guys

Did you go to the website i provided you???

Its a stripped and modded nikki. Ask Kentetsu what he thinks of the Sterling. He is extremely competitive in CSP class.

Was that other vehicle a rotary? IMO a carb desiged for a rotary than modded FOR a rotary will work better than a carb meant for a v8 thats been slightly modified to work on a rotary. Others will obviously disgree with this but you get ~ the same power increase our of a modded sterling as a racing beat modified Holley and manifold. And at a fraction of the cost.

My kids messed with my internet settings so I couldn't see them. Fixed now though, and thank you Sterling for the pics link. What do you all use for air filters? Looked on K&N and they apperently don't make one for this car

Sterling rocks. I can't recommend any other route. Personally, I'm using a Racing Beat filter setup, which uses a cleanable/reusable filter. Works good and sounds great.
