Carb info please (Mukini)

Yes im looking at a dual sidedraft Mukuni set up for a freidn,I dont know 1 thing to these Delatoro,Mikuni,or webber set ups..

This will be the first if* we buy it..

Well this carb in question is a Mikuni 40 sidedraft,

I know most webber guys like to run 48s.

So is this 40 to small?

How much CFM is it good for?

How much HP can it support,

This will be going on a street port 12a,is it ok for a street port?

Can I buy a rebuilt kit and jets to tune and rebuild it my self?

I tried to search onlien for this info and cant find much ..so Please help me out..I will be backlater to check..ANYONE with experiances with these let me know the good and bads..
Thanks..

There's a good write-up on different carbs for the rotary here:

http://www.mazspeed.com/carburetorfacts.htm

But here's my opinion: Generally when people use a Mikuni, they use a 44mm carb on a stock port 12A, and it seems to work ok. I would consider a 40mm too small for a stock port, let alone a street ported engine.

Parts are available, though difficult to find, at least for my friend and his 44pph. He eventually found a place in California that stocked some parts and was able to buy a float that he needed. There are different jets available if you can find them, but the Mikuni is rather limited for ultimate performance due to limitations in it's design. It's just not as flexible/expandable as some of the Weber designs. Keep researching, there's info out there.
