carb flooding...?

I started my car for the first time today! The second time I tried to get it started, I tried to start it and apparently flooded it when it didnt start as easy as the first time. I looked in the carb and could see a pool of gas staring at me - was this jsut flooded or is the carb in need of serious attention? Apparently on Holleys, if it pools like that, the accelerator pump? needs to be rebuilt...is this the case?

Thanks

dont worry about it...a tip i heard is just to rev the engine before you turn off the car. Also the car isnt good for very short trips...so try the engine rev.

For us folks at home here. Do you have a Holley? Or are you using it as a comparison?

its the stock carb, adn I think that the puddles were caused by two things:

a) battery was a little to low to try starting it

b) when I pulled it off to rebuild it because it was dripping fuel quite a bit, I discovered the the secondaries were frozen shut. (I didn't want to rebuild the carb until the car started - you know, I didn't want to spend anymore money until I knew it was worth it. This is my 2nd Rx-7 and my 1st running one )

Anyway, I figure when I get it all back on the car, it shouldn't cut out at 6k like it was either...but if not, I'll let yall know
