I have been trying to buy an 85 fb off this dude that is never home and last night I finally caught up with him and he sold the car to me for $100 the hood was down doors and windows up and shut the inside is good. I am more than likely going to rebuild the carb and then I am going to put brake fluid in the motor to freshen up the old seals. Then probably going to change the oil,and drop the gas tank to make sure there is no rust in it.

Ok, before you go experimenting with different carbs, you should learn about the rotary first.
To start you off, not just any carb will work with a rotary. You can't just put a "6 pack" on it (combination of 3 2 barrel carbs). First of all, it would flow way too much air for a rotary. About 450cfm is the biggest carb you want to put on a stock port 12A engine. Also, you can't just slap on a holley or edelbrock carb you buy at your local parts store or something. It just doesn't work that way. Go to www.racingbeat.com . They have a few nice holley's that have been modified just for the rotary. They are expensive, but they work great from what I hear. You can try to modify one to work, but because of the oil injection and various other things with the rotary, its not easy to make just any carb work.
As for the porting issue, you have to rebuild the engine if you port it. Porting involves taking the engine apart, enlarging and polishing the intake and exhaust ports, and then putting everything back together. If you port an engine, the least you would need is a seal kit. Those will run you about $800 for a good kit from www.mazdatrix.com .
Also, you can pm or email sterling about his carb rebuilding skills. He even has performance Nikki carbs for sale that perform similar to a holley.
Hope this gets you going in the right direction. You can rebuild the stock nikki if you have basic mechanical skills. Just get a rebuild kit and take your time.
