Carb Cleaner

I have some gum out spray and it says on the back to be careful where u spray it in the carb( something like that) can i just take off the air lid and spray down into the carb? Is it better to do it while its running or while its off?

btw another quickie is ok to premix while you still got the omp?

DO NOT spray carb cleaner into the carb when the car isnt running!! you wont be able to start your car, you also need to hold the throttle open to about 2-3K otherwise the motor will bog down and die. But yes while the car is running and revved, spray the cleaner into the carb throat, and spray a little at a time, not a full on stream. And I dont know why you would premix with the OMP but I see no reason why it would hurt the engine.

A little pre-mix is ok, too much can lead to fouled plugs. No more than 1/2 oz/gal.

Yes, if you let the carb set and the cleaner evaporate out it will work. If the cleaner acts as a starting fluid, than I would suggest trying a better brand....

if you do it with the engine off, where do think the crud ends up ? - in the intake manifold
if you do it with the engine running, it gets consumed in the combustion process.

this morning i cleaned out the carb with the spray( while running i had the choke set so it would idle at 2300rpm ).. WOW it made a huge difference the car had never acclerated or idled soo smoothly in its life! i recommend that all of you do this! I guess for the 13b guys clean your throttle body it may make a big difference also!
