Carb or Choke issues

So, one night, i was driving my (1.1 carb. 1985) and the car lost power. when i mean power, the rpms dropped slowly and when i gave it gas it still went down. I tried to start the car after it died and it would turn over but wouldn't run. I checked under the hood and then tried with the choke and then it started and ran. It happened again and the same thing happened with the choke letting the car run. So my question is, could it be vaccum lines to the carb, or a problem with the choke, choking out the car. Thanks for your help, Shaun.

if the choke is making it run better it sounds like its running rather lean for some reason.

Start with a new fuel filter. If you're needing to choke it to keep it running, you're not getting an adequate fuel supply. Clogged fuel filter is the most common cause. If that doesn't rectify the problem, then it's in the fuel system. Pump, contamination in the tank, carb internals plugging.

Download the online FSMs and carb manual in my sig line.
