Car won't start since left hood open when raining outside

Car won't start since left hood open when raining outside

I left my cars hood open last night and forgot it was going to rain. Well It rained on it for about 2 hours before I shut it. I started it this morning and its running on liken one rotor and crap. What happened and what do I do.

Thank god, umm I can only guess something with the electrical/ignition is still soggy from the rain, that stuff will eventually dry itself out and it should be back to normal, i cant see anything else rain would hurt unless you had an open carb

You could have moisture under the distributor cap. That would be one of the first things to check. I wouldnt try even turning the ignition on until you let it dry out a little.

take tje cap and rotor off and dry them or go get new ones.

thats true, when I was buying my '85 it was raining on the day we had planned on, he was driving it one last time when he "drove through a big puddle" then it wouldnt start anymore, thats probably what happened

Pull the dizzy cap, hose it down with W-40, then brake cleaner...do the same for the dizzy rotor....hose down the coil connections with the W-40 and then try starting it.

That actually happened to me a couple of years ago. Very scary actually lol .. I have to buy new coils and wires cuz I guess that's where most of the water hit. May be a good time to consider buying a new cap/rotor, wires and coils. She'll be running like new after that. It's not to expensive either !
