Car won't start/idle
The search engine seems broke... and the 2nd Gen forum is useless drivel, so I'm hopin someone in this well educated section will be able to give me some guidance.
The starter is crankin' away and there is an exhaust "note" but it won't start up. Tried the flood trick multiple times thinking that was the problem but to no avail. So we push started the car and it starts/runs fine but now it won't hold an idle.
It idled perfectly before.
So in a nutshell, engine won't start via starter and it won't idle. Any ideas??
It's the 88 TII in my signature.
Please help me!

For what it is worth . The rx3 that I am restoring was purchased new in Fairbanks in 1974, and still has all the sub zero starting stuff, Hear it is very smokey there now, Try the atf in the carb trick.

We push started the car and let it run for about 5 minutes hoping that would be sufficient to clear out any excess fuel.
I will try the ATF trick on the spark plugs... it's fuel injected, no carb hehe
p.s.
Cool! I'd love to see the early RX cars around here.
Yeah, it's been pretty bad the last few weeks, the last 2 weeks or so have been rather nice though.

Possibly leaking fuel injectors leading to a fuel rich cold start, i.e. flooded?
Have you removed your plugs to see if the engine is flooded when you crank and crank? If so, it could be that one or more of your fuel injectors is stuck open allowing any fuel rail pressure to run out in liquid form and flood the engine.
Something to think about, anyway. The only other cause that I can think of would be low compression - usually push/pull starting will get a low compression motor up to enough rotor velocity to start, but not idle very well.
TPS? Idle Air Adjustment? More info needed,

I'm trying to test for compression now, but I can't seem to find out how to prep a piston compression tester unit for use with rotary engines.
I know I have to remove the valve that keeps memory of the highest pressure achieved, but do I just seal the hole it will leave when I remove it??
Can you give me a walktrhough?
