Car smoking badly

I just got my 79 RX7 started and running after rebuilding half of the carburetor. But now it is smoking really bad. The smoke is not exactly black, blue, or white but more of a gray like a car burning extremely rich. The person that had it before me just replaced the fuel pump with a new one before I got it running but he said it was the smallest one he could find. Also the car misses badly and smoke continues to pur out of the exhaust for minutes after shutoff. Also no matter what I try the car will not idle, I have to give it a little gas at all times or it will stall. When I pinch down on the fuel lines a little the revs smooth out and the engine stops missing and the smoke subsides slightly. Also it was smoking before the carb rebuild. I need help please.

You may have a stuck choke or float bowl related problem.
