car not starting
ok......a few weeks back we had a massive downpour of rain. while driving home from work my car hit a puddle and the nose went compleatly underwater. the car stalled out and hasn't started since.
I have removed the airbox, it was full of water. I pulled the plugs out and cleaned them, let the engine dry out. weeks later the car still will not start. it just spins forever but wont turn over. is there something I should be looking at?

Have you dried out the cap and rotor, or the plug/coil wires? Also, check any electrical plugs that might have retained water. Might be someplace to start...

Don't know if you've seen this, but it has many things you can try.

Airflow is my life
If you got that much water in the engine I suggest you change the oil. Also crank the engine around by hand with the plugs out to get out any water. Once its all good and dry and with fresh oil. Then put a tablespoon of oil down each primary carb throat to give a compression boost, then try and start it. Oh and I assume you checked the ignition system? It is working right? You have removed the cap and rotor and dried it all out?

With the amount of water that sounds like went into your car you could be looking at some fried circuits...with that much water you could have just as simply blown a couple of fuses. Check your fuse box.

alright......fuses look fine. I bought a MSD 6A and 3 new coils and new wires and plugs. so hopefully that will fix the problem(if spark is the problem). the starter doesn't seem to be engageing, it just makes a clicking noise and doesn't turn the engine. so I think I may need a new starter aswell.

Your still haven't told us if you have spark, fuel, compression. I don't see a point at throwing parts at a car when you don't even know the problem. The MSD is a nice upgrade though.

No start
If you are still running the stock injection system and have the air-flow meter, there is a good chance the water got into the air-flow meter and back-fired. This
would cause the flap door on the meter to warp causing a no fuel situation. The
first thing as others have mentioned is whether you have no spark or a no fuel situation and then go from there. Good luck and let us know what you find.
