Car dying while driving

I have an '84 12A that is deciding to try to annoy me now. Twice it died on my driving down the road at like 3500rpm. Both times after taking a corner pretty hard. Today was the first day of the autocross season (I think we can see where this is heading ) I picked up a set of Kuhmo v700s which appeared to complicate matters (They grip real well btw, car handles amazingly even with the shot suspension). But on 2 of my runs when I was really pushing the corners hard, I lost power at the same point, another hard decreasing radius turn and that was it, she just died. With coercing (I'm guessing getting fuel back up to the carb) she'd start and then run strong to finish up. Trying now to figure out why.

I'm going to change the fuel filter, but I think the problem may be the fuel pump. It is EXTREMELY loud. You can hear it very distinctly when riding in the car, and you can hear it standing next to the car.

But is there anything else I could be missing or any other things I should be looking at?

Thanks people

I had a fuel pump once do that. Mind you I wasnt driving the way you are. But it would just die, pull the fuel line off and suck on it, and she would work for anothr couple of miles. Dunno really what it was but replaced the fuel pump and no more problems...

I'm still getting good enough vacuum out of the engine and I guess the pump is still doing something so it really isn't a pain to get restarted. Just gotta get some gas back up to the engine. Then she fires and runs like normal (till the next time I try some nice decreasing radium off-camber turns or a slalom .

Went to autozone to look into what fuel pumps are there and what they have. Guy at the counter was into RX7s and told me not to buy any of the crap they have and just get an adjustable one

So, having said that, what kind of pump should I go for? What seems to be the favorite? Regardless if it fixes the problem, I need one anyway. It just shouldn't be that loud. I should not be able to hear it over the engine.
