can't keep fresh rebuild running,help!

Here's the lowdown. rebuilt mild streetport, holly intake, 600 Edelbrock, jetted for a Rotary. Running 2nd gen leading coil ignition and RB headers. Have good compression but had to add some ATF in order to get it started. I had the pully off the front hub when I built. When I reassembled, I lined up the apex seal with the leading plug hole, then backed if off enough where the pully lined up with the first bolt hole on top with the leading timing mark lined with the pin. Installed the dizzy like I should have and am getting spark to all 4 plugs. I had it started a couple of times the first time for about 30 minutes checking for leaks. began trying to adjust the carb and it died and wouldn't restart. The first mistake I made was early this spring I installed reverse gauge faces and now the water temp is not working, but I am getting full ohm reading on the temp sender and wire. With the car runnning it buried the oil pressure gauge which leads me to believe I screwed something upi when I installed the gauge face. The water temp gauge is not working at all which seems I must have screwed it up also. They worked before the rebuild but installed the gauge face before I had the motor ready. Would there be any reason why the oil pressure gauge would bury itself because of the oil pressure or would it more than likely be something wrong with the gauge. I am using the same sending unit which worked with the other engine. I stripped all the wiring except the water temp, oil level, oil pressure, water level and of coarse the alt wire. This is a little long winded, but a lot of things to cover.
thanks,
Todd
