can someone help me out?

I've heard that first gen's are notorious for having hot start problems..
my car will usually start in the mornings, but that's about it. unless it's sat in the shade for a long time...
it's like my starter isn't even trying.. I haven't checked it yet.. but when I turn the key to start it, the stereo stays on and it doesn't even try, but I have full power to my electronics...
oh ya' I own a 1983 Rx-7 GS
please someone help me out so I can get my Rex up and running again.. I just spent around 400$ for a new stereo in it...
Thanks for the help.

should have spent that on making it reliable. trace your connections down to the starter. your starter might also be fried. otherwise push start it. they're really easy to.

Spend thirty bucks and make new battery cables for it. Make sure the battery is strong. You can always pull the starter and have it tested at a local auto parts store.
Also, make sure the car is in a very good state of tune,,,,,,,i.e. plug wires, plugs, dizzy cap, rotor, air filter and fuel filter. Double check that the hot start assist motor is working also.

okay... some other things I probably should have mentioned... the car before this always started right up.. except mornings where it would take two or three tries, and then it would fire...
but now it doesn't even try, and to be honest, I don't even know what to look for... I work alot so I don't get the time to work on my car...
could someone help me out.. like where is the starter on my Rx-7, and is there anyway to wire it to a switch, because I really think that it could be the ignition switch itself, because when I turn the key to the start position my radio doesn't turn off, and all electronics stay on.
so if someone could help me out I would really appreciate it.
thanks

Your starter might be suffering from a "thermal short sindrome" heat spands metal; causing the wound up wires to open just enough to cause some resistance on the circuit. The starter on rotaries are located on the drivers side next to the tranny. And maybe in not your ignition switch but your electronics could be wired straight to the batt. and thats why they dont shut off.
