if i find a 1st gen that's in good condition, suspension is fine and everything, that has a blown engine for 500$ or so, wouldnt it be cheaper and better to get that and have that engine rebuilt instead of spending 2500 for a 1st gen with 150k miles?

you can pick up a decent car for 1500, 2000 should buy you a nice one, and for 2500-3000 you can get one with low miles near mint.

it depends if you have the resources, time, and ability to rebuild.

where are you located, I might have just the car for you.

My first (81) was bought with a blown engine. I rebuilt it and have been happy ever since. As long as everything else on the car is good then its worth it. One thing I know is that my motor is strong and will be for a long time.
