Can I change these ignition coils for aftermarket?

I'm pretty sure this might have been answered but then again I've never seen any pictures so I'm providing one to make sure we're all on the same page. Mostly me. Circled are the ignition coils to my 13B. Can I change those two for aftermarket higher performance ignition coils? I'm not entirely sure how one can mess with the ignition system of a rotary so that's why I'm bringing to others for some help, so that I don't end up destroying the motor by accident. Also, can this ignition system be upgraded with also an MSD box? If so, which one is best?

Sure. I think the most common replacement is the MSD Blaster 2 coils. You can use an MSD box on these engines. Usually people get the 6A or the 6AL. There are a few different ways to to the MSD install.

There are also a bunch of inexpensive upgrades the use 2nd gen RX-7 coils and so on. Seach for DLIDFIS, 2GCDFIS, and transistor trick. There are a bunch of options that make for a nice upgrade. Do a little reading and see what you think. It can be a bit confusing, so we can help you sort out the options if you have any questions.

What is DLIDFIS, 2GCDFIS, and transistor trick? And, what's so special about the 2nd Gen ignition compared to the 1st Gen? They don't make a special upgraded, or higher performance, distributor for the 13B do they? And, has anyone done this, the MSD way, and noticed a difference? Starting, accelerating, idle smoothness, etc...

Oh, and nice sig-name. My FB is a GSL-SE. ^^
