Almost EVERY combination of muffler sounds like **** to me except the RB Street Port full exhaust system... I know a lot of people will say there is a better system out there, but they will have to prove it to me.

The RB system has only two downsides:

Heavy weight

Expensive Cost...$900 for full system... header... pre-silencers... muffler..

^this, but it does sound great. Not raspy and tinny like most of the muffler/piping combinations I've heard.

I know that RB makes a great muffler. my setup is way to loud right now. and i want it to sound a little more mature. I have the RB header and like i said i don't know what muffler is on it now. I have heard that Magnaflow makes a quiet deep muffler. are you guys running an oval or round style and which seems to fit better?

round is a little better, it fits, and in case there is a backfire, round is better. however for some reason nobody but mazda and racing beat make a round muffler that is as big as the car car fit. and basically bigger is better in a muffler

the car fits an 8" round can, which the RB and mazda race muffers are, but the biggest magnaflow is only 7".

so for a magnaflow, oval actually offers a bigger muffler.

What you need is a pre-silencer. If you need a used rb single muffler let me know. Also have the 12a street port (duals) also.
I do have the pre sil. But i think my friend needs it.

Borla

http://www.streetfire.net/video/burn...ust_100559.htm

That was with a RB street header+RB presilencer+magnaflow straight thru+Borla XR-1 and 2.5 piping. The whole system was straight thru, but you could make it a lot quieter without going straight thru. I loved, and miss my Borla.

I don't recommend it but yes there ok but i got pulled over for pooping sounds from my exhaust till I got the rb system and now quite+smooth and a great rotary sound like no other. well worth the money, I have the full race rb system the two pipe to one at the muffler. The rb system has two pre-silencers and then crams it into a single just before the muffler well that's mine but I know there's one other set up they have that's one pipe from the header back . The reason I don't recommend borla in my personal experience is that they get hot fast and get loader the hotter they get. I don't know if mine was just bad but the muffler case swelled and leaked in only 7months.

Any combo with a RB rear muffler will be good.

After spending hundreds on several "DIY" combinations my vote is also for the RB system. Even with my fairly aggressive streetports it is still pretty quiet, and by far the only good sounding setup I have tried.

Racing Beat is the clear choice in this matter. their exhaust components are of excelent quality, flow well, and offer excellent sound. you will need a presilencer..or two stacked together as in the RB SP exhaust in conjunction with a RB (or any) muffler.

a buddy of mine has a RB header, two magnflow bullet syle mufflers side by side to act as presilencers and an oval borla muffler. the car still sounds good..but is deafeningly loud...

Another on the bandwagon for the RB system.

I've run the RB muffler both ways; with the RB header and presilencer, and with the stock manifold & heat exchanger. Both sound very good.

I get teased a lot at the meets that nobody can tell when my car's idling.

I'll take this all into consideration. I like the look and idea of an 8" round i believe mine is an oval now, will have to look again. are the RB mufflers labled with their brand right on them? what does the tip look like? i don't want to accidentally rip off the good muffler and find out all i needed was a silencer. and if i did not mention it before the car is streetported. Idling it sounds like a Pig grunting. very loudly.

Here's mine, from A vid I shot some time back trying to chase down a slight miss. Vid starts with the engine cold on choke; bout halfway through it drops to idle:

Essentially, my fuel pump is generally louder than my idle exhaust note.

^ My monster port's that way even with my homebuild 3.5" header. I'm running the 'Street Port' RB muffler. It's amazingly quiet, and sounds nearly stock. Except when it idles.

Love the sound of Flowmasters on RX7's, just too loud for my taste.

OK... here is my thoughts again.... I have friends who have tried to save money by building their own exhaust because they thought they could save money.... After blowing out mufflers and "rigging" things, they ended up being right at the amount if they would have bought the RB system.

I got caught in the "trap" trying to reinvent the wheel. I thought I could build my own system and do better.... I was wrong!!! Not only was the RB system quieter, it lasts and best of all the TORQUE the system makes is un-matched!!!

Here is proof in the pudding!!!!

Video with my RB streetport system: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWR3YPuNOto

Video with my home made exhaust system with RB header with Borla Stainless muffler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIyeyU55O2Q

Both these runs are with the same engine, same carb, same CAR..... What do you want your car to sound like???
