Calling SE guru's (SE Injector Installation ???'s)

Hey all,
After searching for 2 hours I have these questions. (I looked at brown mounds website as well as read a whole lot of posts.)

I purchased some flow tested and cleaned injectors from a fellow forum memeber recently and plan on replacing the improper flowing injectors on my car.

I am doing the swap tomorrow, or at latest by Thursday, before a 300 mile trip home. These are my questions.

-The injectors that were sent to me do not have new O-rings or anything on them, do I really need these? (I may have new ones on there b/c my motor was rebuilt and streetported less than 1500 miles ago.)

-Are there any other screens or parts that I need to do this swap?

-Most importantly, one of the injectors has a copper colored metal ring on the inside of the reciveing (non-spraying side), what is this? Can I remove one from the other injectors?

-Any other tips suggestions are appreciated.

-Greg

1. You may not need new o-rings, since your's are probably new, but I would go ahead and replace them anyway. You don't want to end up with fuel/vacuum leaks. Your local dealer should stock the o-rings/grommets and they aren't really any more expensive than through Atkins or Mazdatrix (about $2 or so each last time I checked).

The parts are as follows:

8574-13-252 Upper Grommet
8574-13-253 O-ring
N326-13-257 Lower Grommet

You will need two (2) of each part.

2. No are are no other screens, etc. that you need to worry about replacing

3. I am not sure about this one. It may be a screen for the injector. You should be able to swap them if one is missing. Maybe someone else will know more about this one.

Mazdatrix lists the upper and lower grommets as being the same from 84-92. I have replaced my lower grommets before and I believe that I used the N326 part number, but I will double check to verify. If the N304 is available, get that one, otherwise the N326 should be just fine.

These injector O-rings are also available from most average local auto parts stores. I got mine from Advance Autoparts, but you can get them just about anywhere. They are probably a little more expensive than you might think. I might use the old ones if they are not very old, but they get hard over time. If you run without these you will get leaking around the injectors causing idle problems.
