caliper help needed now!!! urgent

I have a race saturday and just did something stupid. Long story short I compressed the brake pedal and forgot I had the front caliper removed. The piston maxed out so fluid bled from around it. I stuck a big socket in it and gave it a few taps and it went back in. The boot around it (which I suspect doesn't hold back fluid but keeps dirt out) is shreded.

Did I cause any damage and is this thing going to give out in my race and loose all brake power? Or will I get warning? What can I do? Any advice would be helpful. I have about 3 hours to work on it tomorrow and then none friday before I leave for the track! Oh boy I'm kicking myself.

Probably be all right for the short term, but you are right. The boots keep dirt out. I wouldn't wait too long to get a new boot. They come in the rebuild kits. You might be able to find one at a local parts store.

In a pinch I've looked it up on rockauto to find another car that shares the same rebuild kit and hit up the local junkyard for a boot.

The proper rebuild kit though wasn't too hard to come by, strangely.
