I want to install A/C on my 83 gsl. It originally had it, but when the first owners bought it, they had it removed... lived in northern Maine... no need for the A/C and it was more expensive to buy it with AC

So, now I have my hands on a A/C system from a 85 gsl-se with a 13B engine. I will probably be using the engine in my 83, and the tranny... but for now, all I want is the A/C. Can I fit it on my 12A? If not, why?

I would not see why it would not fit, I love that , I am like one of the last of the first gen's with the original compressor and cools like it just cam out of the factory. :)

 

not sure if it will fit, because the system is made by a different company for the GSL-SE's, it's supposed to be lighter and more compact than the one used in the other models. That said, if you take the whole system, hardlines included and swap it into the GSL it might fit. You might have to get the belt for a 13B to fit it. I don't see why you can't try.

Should fit with no problems. There are minor differences between those years, but all the components seem to be interchangeable.

Thanks guys... I am getting the system this week, and will be doing the install in the spring along with ALL of my other mods... WAY TO MANY to list right now, but I will be sure to keep ALL of ya informed!
