A/C kickup adjustment?
Is there a way to adjust the A/C kickup? My car drops from 900rpm to a whopping 500rpm.
I looked through the FSM but didn't find anything about the A/C.

You mean when you turn the AC on the engine rpm goes from 900 to 500? then that solenoid is not working.
Also, a bit of data on your car please. Per your public profile you don't even have an rx-7.

Theres an adjustment screw on top of the throttle opener solenoid.

Although in my case, I had to put washers in between it and the bracket to raise it up enough. Even then, when I adjusted the screw for fine tuning, I found that when the throttle opener raised the revs it would bounce back after hitting around 1000 rpm. I could never get mine idling > 800-900 rpm with AC on without the throttle opener resetting...

Thanks for the wisdom guys. I found the problem.
Now as far as fixing it, I'm stumped. The arm that pulls the linkage up to open the butterfly valves, when the A/C is on, it touches the linkage without actually moving it up. When the A/C is off, it's probably 2mm below the linkage. That is with the solenoid adjustment screw backed all the way out.

Here, the green arrow is pointing to what isn't pulling the linkage upwards.
When the A/C is on, it's barely below the linkage. When the A/C is off, it's no where close to the linkage.

rotordave, missed that part. That worked like a charm. Thanks again!
Still runs like crap with the A/C on, but I can't complain. At least this Texas weather won't kill me now!
