a/c belt removal

My car has all the AC components installed still, but it doesn't work. Can I just pull the belt to lose the parasitic drag or does that stress out other components, like it does when you pull the air pump belt?

I'll be pulling the compressor when I get a chance but right now I'm just wondering about cutting off the belt.

Pull the belt sure, before you pull all the components, I'd recommend getting it drained. Even if it does'nt work there can still be freon in the system which is highly toxic

yeah, I've worked with the stuff a little. I'm going to at least check the levels before I unhook everything. If there's not enough pressure to show on the gauges I'm just gonna crack her open with a towel over the fitting to make sure I don't get sprayed.

Thanks for the info.

sounds good, just always like to give a heads up when people are about to work with a/c units
