NC Buzzers/chimes won't go off!!!

I am told this may be an easy fix but......we will see.

I have two buzzers going off at the same time, one is louder that the other. I "think" the one buzzer is the ignition buzzer...the other one?? I am not sure but it is the loud one. I thought it might be the low anti-freeze buzzer..I just am not sure..I have plenty of anti-freeze...

Where can I disconnect these annoying buzzers/chimes..?? I was told the ignition wire is to the left of the steering columne. I have a GSL-SE..Is it a green/red wire --or--blue/yellow and green??...Do I just cut it or disconnect??

any help would be appreciated...

thanks much!!

CHRIS

Before you dig too deeply, take a look at the Oscillator (common issue). You will find this right in front of the battery (might have to remove battery to see it), and it will look like a small black relay bolted to the frame next to the radiator. A plug will be inserted into it from the bottom, so just unplug it and see if that corrects the issue. This controls the audible alarms for temp and oil, and if it gets wet it can make a continous sound that has been compared to the feeling of an ice pick being swirded around in your inner ear.

Good luck...

I bet you are right cause I did clean the engine compartment and it got soaked...I will ck that area and let you know.. I think the other buzzer is the ignition buzzer and I hope I can take the steering columne cover off and disconnect that buzzer there..

Thanks for your input!! I will advise if that was it...chris

kentetsu:

you were 100% right..The oscillator was soaked...I disconnected it and the buz went away....Your awesome..that little box even had oscillator written on it ..I don't need to connect that thing do I ??

now...I still have that other buzz...I took off the steering columne and disconnected connectors there.....still buzzed so I guess it is not the ignition buzz.. It is not the seat belt buzzer either cause I disconnected it. I thinkit may be the door buzzer but not sure.. Can that be disconnected??

thanks again for your help ...1 down , 1 to go

you can replace the ocillator if you want or leave it unplugged. as mentioned, its function is the control the audible alarm for low coolant and oil. the other buzzing could be faulty wiring for the door ajar with ignition on or a corroded door switch. remove each door switch and clean it and reinstall, being careful not to overtighten teh mounting screws as they will strip easially.

Glad I could help. Had that happen to me shortly after I got the car, and I'll tell you, it was unbearable! lol. I never did plug mine back in, and that was several years ago. Don't miss it one bit...

As to the remaining buzzer, sounds like the door switch. Mazdaverx713 has given you some good instruction on how to check that out.

Best of luck...

Is your dome light on? If yes, door switch... or possibly hatch switch; there's a pin switch inside the hatch release mechanism, works like the door switches.

I have the oposite problem with my car. None of the buzzers/chimes work. What could cause that? I'd like to fix them.

well...I checked the hatch about the buzzing and that was not it... I am thinking it has to do with the ignition... I can put the key in the ignition, turn the key ( with out turning the car over) , then turn the key back to the off poistion and the buzz keeps going until I take the key out of the ignition.

any other ideas on what to do other than pulling fuses which will work but other things go inoperable ( ie: the dash clock, the radio etc..)

thanks...I know you guys know your stuff

It's supposed to do that, but only when a door is open.

You've got a ground short in your door switch line somewhere, I'm betting.

If you can disconnect only the RY lead from the CPU's X-16 connector, and the buzzing goes away, you'll have your culprit.
