Buying my first RX-7..

Is this a good deal:

(i)1983 RX-7 GS, original California car. Passed SMOG May, 2003. All maintenance records since original purchase. 5 speed manual, AC, Cruise Control, Pioneer AM/FM/cassette w/amplifier, power mirrors, tinted glass. Original paint, carpet, dash, etc. Two removable tops (tinted glass & solid red). Seats recovered April, 2003. Tires are almost new. Car runs great and everything works. Always garaged. Well maintained and looks like new. Some spare parts, shop manuals and a bra. Open to offers. $3000. (/i)

I'm looking for a car just like it. It looks great in the pictures I've seen, but it seems a bit high, compaired to other cars in the area. Low milage is a plus, however. I have to work all day today, but I'm going to check it out Sunday. Assuming it checks out as advertised with no major issues, is $3000 a resonable price for a well maintained RX-7?

I think it depends on how badly you want an RX7? Good condition RX7s are hard to find. Just look around, how many good condition, stock and low mileage and one owner RX7 you see on the streets. I know everyone on this board probably think anything over $1500 for a RX7 is too much.(Flame On!). I always try to think it this way, if that is your car how much would you like to sell it for? I have been looking for something like the one you found for a long time. I finally found an one owner mint 85gslse in stock form with 68,000 miles last November.(look just like Manntis's car, except with gray pin stripes on the sides) I ended up paying $3,300. I am very happy with the purchase. Up to today, the car runs great and I do not have to do any major repairs on it just regular maintance. I have been approached numerous times by others with offers as high as $6,500. Someday I just might not be able to refuse the offer, but for now I really enjoy my car. I say go for it before someone ****** it. Good Luck

Jeff

I have a similar question but the one I'm looking at is an 84 gsl-se with 90000 mi on it the car looks to be in pretty good shape and I test drove it and every thing seemed pretty good (good power, no strange noises, ect.) the guy wants 2700 for it. The only thing I'm worried about is the apex seals going bad because of the mileage.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Adam

the ONLY thing that is wrong with it is the INTERIOR is SORT OF TAKED APART only the roof, door panels NOTHING on the dash. So i have to put a couple screws in and THATS IT

3300 sounds pretty good. 500-1500 cars always seem to need varying amounts of work and/or additonal cash. I spent 1200 for a fixer-upper but will have more than 4K (and many hours) in it by the time I'm done.

Yeah....

Check the car out first. If everything does work in the car, perhaps it is worth it.

It is a GS which is basically the base model, so you don't get the power windows or rear disk brakes.

It all depends on what you want the car for. I paid $3200 for mine, including all fees and tax. Mine came with a rare bodykit, some Autoplas louvers, which I have sold, and some chrome fender moldings, that I will eventually sell, or set on fire, or something.

I have a few bucks I have to invest in mine, if I want the A/C to blow cold, and I have a small oil leak to fix, and then the car will be complete........until I decide to buy something else for it.
