Buying a 83 gsl for $1250??

well my bro is selln his 83 GSL....I love the car so im gonna buy it from him. Hes gonna give it to me for 1250, is that a good price? The car is in good condition. Engine has a little over 50k miles/.The body is in good condition, can use very little work on it. Im gonna be changn the whole scheme of the car...the exterior/interior is brown, original, but to me its ugly ...I know teh engine has only 50k miles, but im gonna work this car to the max, and i wanna make sure that its worth puttn work into the engine... What do you guys think?

As long as the body is good, everything works and there are no safety issues $1250 is a very good price. Even if the car has a few minor issues this price isn't a bad price to pay. After all, even high-mileage 1st gens with a few rust and mechanical issues fetch between $600 and $800.

But if you intend to sink gobs into the engine and body don't expect to get your investment back any time soon. Even in the best original condition '81 to '83 RX7s sell for not much more than 3K right now if that. They may be worth double or even triple that amount in five to ten years, but only if kept stock.

Of course, if you don't mind taking a hit on resale value (or have no intention of ever selling) a modded 1st gen will leave stock versions standing still. If it's performace you want have at 'er.
