Which to buy?

Ok, heres the scenario I have $1,000 and need to replace/rebuild my carb.

I also have a few other things I'd like to get done this winter that will eat cash as well.

What should I do?

Edit:
The application is a summer daily driver with a desire for drag.

search on Ebay for "12A rotary". I saw a complete 48 IDA intake on there for around $600 I believe. That would be a sweet upgrade...

I'd get it if I had that kinda dough...

Not sure if that one would be good for a daily driver though.

Thanks, but I'd prefer to stick with the Holley or Sterling for the daily driver aspect.

for daily driver then, I'd go sterling. You will need to get a fuel pump, regulator, hose, and maybe something else I'm forgetting. Keep that in mind when budgeting...

Oh yeah, you should get a RB filter box to go on top of the new sterling to help on CFM's. I forget what it's called but it is white and sorta "mushroom" shaped.

all your choices suck get a weber!!! IDA is best, but expensive. If you want driveability get 45, but for power I really recomend bigger than 45's. Get the beauiful 48 or 52ida

There are some little things that need to fab. throttle cable/return spring holder and possibly an arm to operate the oil metering pump. But that was easy stuff. Taking off the original carb set up is the hard stuff. No need for a scoop. I even have a hat on mine and still have plenty of clearance. Pics are in the sig.

I wonder...how do you connect the oil metering lines to these aftermarket intakes???

alot of people I know just convert to premix when swapping to a carb without provisions for OMP. the OMP lines are not really under vacuum in current setup with nikki. I would GUESS that if you bothered with tapping into the intake that the vacuum would suck in alot more dirty oil. IMO you should just switch to premix when running aftermarket carb/intake.

You tap into the intake and connect the oil metering lines to the tap. The oil metering pump regulates the amount of oil that comes out.

webers, etc. have been used by racers since the 70's. I guess premixing has been like the "racer's secret" for a long time now. I bet if one measured the amount of oil entered into the engine by the OMP, it probably isn't that much. My car never smoked until I began adding MMO to my gas. (this is ONLY of course noticed on deceleration after full throttle for quite some time, and at startup.) THAT tells me the MMO/gas mixture is more than stock OMP/gas mixture.

Thanks for the info. I was curious how you guys were handling the OMP situation with the aftermarkets.
