Hah. It is a problem for some cars. My friends 1980 crapmaro can't even light up the tires in the wet. It has a 305 too. Thing is, its probably only putting out 50hp right now. The car sucks overall.

Do you mean burn out by this?

If so, Rev it to 7k Pop the clutch and press the brakes with the left foot.

i think ur friend won that argument u can burnout in reverse

Hades12 04-30-04 07:07 AM

I would do burnouts in Reverse with my 81 Toyota Wagon all the time. A buddy of mine did not belive it untill I went by his house in Reverse smoking. Never tried a Donut in reverse, Pleanty of 180 turn arounds though.

If anyone wants to see a LONG brakestand check this video out

This is a bone stock 84 SE right when I got it before I did anything to it cooking 195-60-14's

Tanjo 05-12-04 02:44 PM

HAHa I just got a brand new clutch, centerforce dual friction on a stock FB, I can light em up all daylong. They spinlike crazy, but dont smoke until I get into second. And I can only get into second if Im doing doughnuts. But in a straight line, I can burn most of 1st, bark 2nd really long and hard, and chirp third pretty well. I have yet to do any doughnuts w/ the new clucth, its gonna be nuts when I do.

twigg 06-01-04 02:00 PM

yes i can burnout in reverse and forward, even stock rexs that are in good shape, hold the break a lil and ur gonna smoke the road up,

if i drop the clutch at 8000 i kinda hop a few times then get the breaks to hold me

Dropping at 8K. thats what lead me to replacing my cltuch. I wouldnt do that to often, its really hard on everything.

85rotarypower 06-01-04 04:42 PM

I agree with tanjo. You really only need to drop it at 4000-5000 rpm to get the burnout going. 8000 rpm is crazy, especially on a stock clutch. I wouldn't dream of doing that even on a HD clutch.

Phiber Optik 06-01-04 05:12 PM

Wow 8000rpm dump.... That is harsh, the most I have ever needed to do is 3500-4000rpm even on 225 wide tires, I'm surprised you U-joints are still intact let alone the clutch

MicahMan 06-04-04 09:09 PM

i welded my spider gears together to make it a true possie. i have gone through 2 sets of tires just on the rear. front are still like new. i try to keep the carbon content down. but yeah my 83 gsl will light them up all day long.
